RISE UP at Cornell University is a new independent student organization dedicated to empower underserved populations—primarily refugees, immigrants, low-income communities, and asylum seekers—through comprehensive educational initiatives and resources aimed at reducing healthcare disparities. We attain this by (1) reaching diverse populations in need, (2) promoting health education and access to healthcare services, and (3) enhancing social integration and community engagement.
There are some organizations in Ithaca that address the different needs for underserved communities, but NONE of them are directly focused on healthcare advocacy and healthcare education for refugees and underserved communities.
RISE UP will also provide food supplies to refugees to maintain patient's’ nutritional health.

The city of Ithaca, NY had become a hub for refugees from around the globe (~50/year incoming).
RISE UP will be a first-of-its-kind student organization in Ithaca focused on healthcare advocacy for Ithaca’s diverse refugee and underserved populations.
